I believe that students are more likely to succeed with the subject matter when they feel good about themselves. Therefore, as the tutor, the responsibility falls on me to tailor a learning atmosphere to the needs of my students. I have found that a classroom environment is most conducive to learning when the student feels relaxed and confident in their ability to succeed. I am very good at connecting with my students. This connection is one of my favorite aspects of tutoring. I have had the opportunity to test this teaching philosophy as a private high school tutor and an elementary and middle school tutor. My teaching experience is mainly in subjects like mathematics and reading, but I have also tutored students in biology. I am a junior at the University of Virginia. I am pursing a degree in Biology. After completion of my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend med school and become a physician. I like to push my students to find the answers for themselves as I realize that I can only point them in the right direction. In the end, they are the ones that must comprehend the material. Unlike most people, I thoroughly enjoyed taking the ACT because I love using my critical thinking skills. My hobbies are reading and traveling.
